What is the best time to meditate?
I like to say, its up to you! Especially if you are just starting to get into the habit of meditating. Any free time you have during the day works just fine.
When meditation becomes part of your daily routine, this is when you should start to think about when is the best time. I still believe that anytime that fits your daily routine is great, but some times of the day are thought to be more beneficial.
The hour before sunrise is known as Brahma. This is the most auspicious time of the day to meditate and chant with your mala. Just before the sunrise, most people are still asleep and the day has not begun, so this make it easier for you to establish a meditative atmosphere. This is also when your body feels best, after a great nights sleep and you mind is not being distracted by your events in the day.
Meditating in the morning is also a great way to start your day. Setting aside time in the morning for meditation also lets us carry that energy and calmness through our daily activities.
If you are not a morning person or you enjoy meditating several times a day, just before you go to sleep is perfect time for meditation. This way the body can relax, ensuring you a better nights sleep. You don't want to be going to bed with all the days worries, chores and problems running through your mind.
