Buddha's feet or footprint is a common symbol in Buddhism especially in Thailand  and Sri Lanka. There is a mountain in Sri Lanka that I would love to go to. At the top of the mountain is a huge hole. People there in Sir Lanka say that is where Buddha took his first footstep on the earth after his enlightenment.

According to some Buddhist legends, after Buddha attained enlightenment his feet made an imprint in the stone where he stepped.

In another Buddhist legend the infant Buddha took seven steps after his birth, symbolizing his spiritual domination of the universe.

I took these photos during one of many trips to Bangkok. This is one of my favorite Buddha statues. You can see the emphases on the feet, its unlike any other Asian country. The bottom of the feet are decorated with pearl, jade and other stones. The entire Buddha is covered in gold. Amazing!

The footprint of Buddha in stone is known as Buddhapada. This symbolizes the Buddha's presence and also his absence now that he has entered Nirvana.
